AGAINST ME! "Disco Before The Breakdown" MARBLED GRAY winyl EP

"Against Me! to punk rockowa grupa założona w 1997 roku w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Początkowo jednoosobowy zespół składający się jedynie z 17-letniego Toma Gabela, jest obecnie kwartetem odnoszącym sukcesy na całym świecie.

Debiut Toma zawierał wersje demo utworów i zatytułowana była właśnie „Against Me!”. Kolejne wydawnictwo – nagrane już w szerszym składzie osobowym – ukazało się rok później i nosiło tytuł „Vivida Vis!”. Pochodzące z niego utwory zyskały popularność głównie dzięki Internetowi, ponieważ zespół wydawał niewielką ilość egzemplarzy płyty.

Rok 2001 to pierwsze wydawnictwo Against Me!, które odniosło spory sukces. EPka „Crime as Forgiven By” została nagrana w składzie Gabel-Kevin Mahon. Z kolei następną – „The Acoustic EP” Gabel nagrywał z Dustinem Fridkinem.

Po zmianach w składzie (Mahona zastąpił Warren Oakes, a do formacji dołączył James Bosman) zespół mógł w końcu wydać pełnowymiarowy album. Był nim „Reinventing Axl Rose”. Pochodzące z niego nagranie „Baby, I'm an Anarchist!” zyskało ogromną popularność w środowiskach punkowych. Po wydaniu tego krążka Fridkina zastąpił Andrew Seward i od tej pory skład Against Me! pozostaje stały.

Rok 2002 to EPka zatytułowana „The Disco Before The Breakdown”, a już rok później muzycy wydali album „As the Eternal Cowboy”, z którego pochodził pierwszy singiel zespołu – „Sink, Florida, Sink”. Po nim przyszedł czas na debiutanckie DVD – „We're Never Going Home”.

„Searching for a Former Clarity” z 2005 roku to już trzecia płyta formacji. Dzięki niemu zespół zyskał jeszcze szerszą rzeszę fanów, a piosenki z albumu grały światowe stacje radiowe i telewizyjne. Po wydaniu jeszcze kilku singli, formacja postawiła na płytę koncertową. „Americans Abroad!!! Against Me!!! Live in London!!!” ukazała się w sierpniu 2006 roku.

Ostatni jak dotąd album zespołu to „New Wave” ze stycznia 2007 roku. Singiel „Thrash Unreal” pochodzący z tego wydawnictwa znalazł się na 11. miejscu listy przebojów modern rocka."

Did I only buy this so I could "review this 7""? Well, it's of average girth and has a satisfying weight in my hand. One wishes there was slightly more substance but can be content with what's there. Dick jokes aside, this is pretty much an amazing release. (Though it's no Reinventing Axl Rose.) If you're not an Against Me! fan, this 7" (hur hur hur) won't necessarily make you one. but it will try.

Solid record, mine came on gray. It's a departure from the folkish punk found on earlier Against Me! albums, but some would contest that it's a good thing for the band to switch up the sound every here and there. Tonight We're Gonna Give It 35% is the best song on the record, I think. The title track is a goodie, too. The last song is probably the weakest, but it's acoustic, and still great.

Excellent 7'! I recommend it to any early against me! fan. Since those 3 songs are only on this E.P. and it's a cheap price do yourself a favor.

This 7" is pretty crazy. Against Me's 7"s are better than their full lengths(except for Reinventing Axl Rose)! This one was no exception. "Disco Before the Breakdown" is a really good song with really catchy horns. It is really cool how the intro is really soft and smooth and then it just explodes into total anarchy. "Tonight We're Gonna Give it 35%" is another really awesome song. I think its just as good as "Tonight We're Gonna Give it 35%". Its pretty cool. "Beginning In An Ending" sucks. Plain and simple. The quality is so shit, that it sounds bad. Usually with bad sound quality(like 80's hardcore) the shit quality sounds good. Not here...

Buy it before their new cd comes out on Sire and it sucks really bad!

this is an awesome ep 3 great songs not available on any other cd. I highly recommend this one...hell i highly recommend all of against me's releases

It's old Against Me! It's pretty hard to be disappointed with anything they do. Just get it, you'll like it. It's just too bad we won't be able to share a sweaty basement show with them anymore, but I guess you can't really hold it against them.

This is an awesome seven inch. "Disco Before the Breakdown" immediately struck me as an incredible song, especially with that super-catchy horn. The other two took a couple weeks to grow on me but now I love them. The lyrics are somewhat absurd at times but great nontheless. This is my first release from Against Me! and it is definately not my last. "
